From eco light shows and ice skating to electric bike tours and Santa’s Grotto, there really is something for everyone; and better yet, you can take advantage of our eco attractions alternative transport routes and impressive car-free incentives.
So, without further ado, let’s take a look at our 12 Car-Free Days of Christmas for 2025…
1) Holkham’s Guided Electric Bike Tour

The Living Rainforest offers a Green Discount of £1 off the admission price for each individual arriving by bus or bicycle

4) The Eden Project’s Immersive Christmas lights experience
An all-new lights and soundscape experience is happening on selected evenings from 22 November, and is free with a Locals’ Pass or other Eden Project entry ticket. With more lights than ever before, explore the Biomes as they are transformed into a twinkling night-time wonderland, with enchanting surprises around every corner, as well as a new interactive outdoor experience.
If you travel to Eden in a planet-friendly way, whether that’s by train and/or bus, on foot or by bike, your party can claim an Eden Guide Book worth £6 on arrival.
The lights experience will happen between 5–8pm on 6, 8, 12–23 and 27–30 December; and 2–5 January
5) Ice Skating at The Eden Project
Add an extra bit of sparkle to your Christmas visit – Eden’s glittering ice rink is back this winter, with sessions to suit all ages.

6) Wildwood Trust (Kent): Santa’s Grotto is back!
Come and celebrate the most magical time of the year with a visit to Santa, visit him in his enchanting world surrounded by elves busily preparing for the big day before getting the opportunity to meet Santa himself. All visitors will receive a luxury soft toy and have their photo taken with Santa allowing the moment to be cherished for years to come.

7) National Botanic Garden of Wales: Santa and the Owls
Come and explore the Botanic Garden this Christmas where a magical adventure awaits at the British Bird of Prey Centre with the Santa and The Owls! Experience the joy of the season with Santa, his owl helpers, and festive fun for the whole family.

8) Earth Trust’s Foraging Walks
Totally Wild UK run foraging courses, with the aim of exciting people with the amazing flavours to be found in the wild, whilst promoting safe and sustainable foraging practices. We are delighted to welcome them to the Wittenham Clumps for a series of guided foraging walks.
Bike racks are available at the Earth Trust Centre. The closest bus stop is in Long Wittenham.

9) South London Botanical Institute
Visit the Botanical Garden by Night! Join for a magical evening on Tuesday December 17th at 6pm at The South London Botanical Institute. Explore the beauty of the gardens under the twinkling lights and immerse yourself in the enchanting atmosphere.
Treat yourself to a free glass of mulled wine or a hot drink to accompany your visit.
Many buses pass directly by the Institute:

10) Discover Kew Gardens
Discover the world of science behind our botanical collections, with over 50,000 living plants to be found across our UNESCO World Heritage site.
There are bicycle racks at all four gates. Bus Route 65 stops close to Elizabeth Gate, Victoria Gate and Lion Gate. This bus stops at Ealing Broadway and Richmond stations.
11) Pensthorpe National Park
Explore magical gardens, adventurous playgrounds and the stunning nature reserve.
The Norwich-Fakenham Yellow Line (X29 First bus) stops at the foot of the drive (a ten minute walk away from the Admissions area).
12) Gilbert White’s House and Gardens: Eco Lights Festival
Discover a brand-new magical experience this winter, with White’s Eco Light Festival.
Every Thursday, Friday and Saturday, from Thursday 21st November 2024 – Saturday 21st December 2024.
There are bicycle racks on site and if they are full there are plenty of places to lean bicycles and secure them. The nearest train stations are Alton and Liss. Both have regular trains to and from London Waterloo, as well as bus links to Selborne.
