Car-free champions Good Journey have announced that Louise Dando is taking up the role of CEO.
Louise is an experienced leader in the tourism and heritage sector. She previously worked as the Marketing Director at English Heritage.
Good Journey founder Nat Taplin, who’ll be working alongside Louise, said: “We’re delighted to welcome Louise as CEO. She joins us at an exciting time. More and more attractions are joining Good Journey to offer directions and discounts for car-free visitors. This is cutting carbon and opening up access to leisure, culture and nature for the 15 million people in the UK without cars.
“We’re working with local authorities and organisations like the National Trust across the country to boost car-free leisure travel. Louise’s experience and expertise put us in an even stronger position to build on this success. I’m looking forward to working with her to develop and grow the Good Journey car-free network.”
Louise Dando, who takes up the position in April, said: “I am honoured and excited to take on the role of CEO at Good Journey. Together with our talented team, I look forward to collaborating with our partners and driving forward our mission, connecting even more people with sustainable travel options and ensuring that every visit to a leisure attraction contributes positively to both communities and the environment.”
Good Journey member attractions cut carbon and traffic by removing 100,000+ car journeys a year from the roads. Ranging from museums, castles, gardens and stately homes to tour providers, activities and accommodation, they are all listed, alongside travel directions, discount offers and a live journey planner, at goodjourney.org.uk. Members include Eden Project, RHS Garden Wisley, Stirling Castle and Blenheim Palace.
Good Journey have helped Blenheim Palace increase car-free visitors from 5,000 to 64,000 a year.
In 2024, Good Journey ran partnership projects with Suffolk County Council, Visit Kent, Visit Peak District, Traveline and the National Trust.
